Validating the assumptions we all have, especially in regard to fields which we know well is important. We may be biased because we think we know things about our field and have stopped trying to see other approaches our users may have. My approach is to validate the assumptions I see in my initial brainstorm notes by coming up with reversed versions of them. Then I validate them in my surveys and get a spectrum of results instead of what I think is right.
