In my case it was similar. I was comfortable as a web developer and didn’t imagine myself doing something else after putting so much work into learning. But life went on and I had to take a break. I went to work at IKEA and there my interests in design and the process behind everything around us ignited. I researched designers and I talked to the design people working at the store about the process they use to come up with ideas and how they test things.
